The Garden City Public Library has been serving the residents of Garden City (Michigan) as a resource of traditional and evolving library services for over 90 years.

The Garden City Public Library is your place for books, DVDs, CDs, audiobooks, magazines, computer access, and free Wi-Fi.  Throughout the year, we offer a variety of free programs for all ages.  The Garden City Public Library provides access to ebooks via Download Destination (powered by OverDrive), and movies, music plus much more via Hoopla.  Using your Garden City Public Library card, you will have access to these services from anywhere at any time!

Stress Buster Adult Coloring Night - Every Tuesday at 6 pm drop in the Library to relax at our Stress Buster Adult Coloring Night! There will be a multitude of coloring sheets provided, as well as crayons, markers and other materials. You can also bring your own supplies. New coloring pages each week! Take a break from whatever causes your stress in your life and relax while coloring with us. Ages 14 +
Book Bags for Sale - We know that checking out so many books at one time can be a lot to carry. Don't worry- we've got your back! Support the Friends of the Garden City Public Library today by purchasing a sturdy book bag from our Circulation Desk for only $3.50. There are two colors to choose from (green or burgundy) and they are absolutely perfect for the regular on-the-go patron. Stop in today for yours!
Free Costco One-Day Pass - Don't have a Costco card but want to see what all the fuss is about? Your invitation is waiting. Stop by the Reference Desk at the Garden City Public Library to pick up your exclusive invitation that when presented at the entrance of Costco will allow you to experience the store as a card-carrying shopper! This offer runs from March 12 through March 18 at the ten Metro-Detroit Costco locations.
Maker Monday - You read that right: Maker Mondays are coming BACK. Garden City Public Library knows how much fun these programs were during the summer so we wanted to bring back a favorite part of the summer during the school year! Join us on Monday, March 19th from 4:00-5:00pm for an afternoon where we are going to have an aMAZEingly good time with: MAZES! We'll make 'em, we'll solve 'em, we'll make more puns with 'em! Please register in advance!!!
Hands-on Dungeons & Dragons - For those interested in an introduction of the popular roll playing game, Dungeons & Dragons, stop into the Library on Tuesday, March 20, April 24, and May 22 at 4:00 pm. Our local DM (Dungeon Master) will run a short session for beginners, answering any questions along the way. Ages 14 and up are welcome to attend this free, fun, and educational adult program at the Garden City Public Library.
Feed-A-Bunny - They’re back! Wednesday, March 21 from 6 - 7 PM, rabbits Mops & Dustbin need to bulk up for their big day and need your helping hand to feed them their favorite foods! Join us for this just-for-fun drop-in program. Remember, these two are NOT camera shy and will be hoppy to take a selfie or two. Snacks for the bunnies hungry appetite will be provided. All ages welcome to this free program!
Easter Eggstravaganza - Partnering with the Garden City Kiwanis and Maplewood Center, the Library will offer lunch, crafts, and an Easter Egg Hunt. You’ll even get a chance to meet the Easter Bunny! Join us on Saturday, March 24th at 12:00pm. Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased at the Garden City Public Library Circulation Desk. The tickets will be $4:00 and that will include lunch for the child and up to 2 adults.
Saturday “Bored” Games - Join the Garden City Public Library on Saturday, March 24th from 2 - 3:30 pm. Hang out at the Library and play games with other members of the community such as Trivial Pursuit, Zombies, Fluxx, Jenga, and more! Or, if you'd like, bring your own favorite board game to play and share at this free, drop-in adult program! Ages 14 and up are welcome to attend. Can't attend this one? It'll be back next month.
Writers Lounge - Garden City Public Library is offering a brand new program: Writers Lounge. We'll kick back, enjoy some snacks and talk about writing. Are you a seasoned writer working on publishing your novel? Are you a novice writer hoping to get some feedback? This program is open for all writers! Our second meeting will be on Monday, April 2nd from 5:00pm-6:00pm and registration is required! This program is open for ages 11+
Food for Fines, Food for Thought - FOOD FOR FINES IS BACK! Monday, March 19th through Saturday, April 28th, Patrons can bring nonperishable items to the library in exchange for fine forgiveness. For every 1 can/container of food $1 in overdue fines will be forgiven from the patrons account. Collected food will go to Our H.O.M.E Pantry here in the Maplewood Community Center. Drop off food to the Circulation Desk during the G.C. Library's normal operating hours for service.
