Adult eBook Club for July – Wilkie Collins - New Adult eBook Club begins July 6th! "The Woman in White" by Wilkie Collins, was first published as a magazine serial in 1958-59 and is considered one of the first true mystery novels, widely regarded the first (and finest) 'sensation' novels. Written from multiple perspectives, we will discuss the characters, the portrayal of the story, and the "a-ha" or "gotcha" moments throughout the month - all online! Yoga on the Library Lawn! - Adult Summer Readers, Tuesday, July 5th unwind in the evening sun with a free, relaxing beginner level yoga class on the Library lawn, starting at 6:00 pm. Vince from the Maplewood Community Center will be guiding our meditation. Decompress after the long weekend and get refreshed for facing the work week ahead! Summer Readers ages 14 + are welcome. If you are interested in this event but are not signed up for Summer Reading, you can still sign up at the event.
Crafty Weekenders: Where Crafty People Meet! - Join the Garden City Public Library as we share all of our craft-making materials with you on Saturday, July 9th and again on July 23rd! We will be emptying our craft shelves for your creative enjoyment. Stop in any time between 1:00 - 3:00 pm and see what inspires you. Bring your own projects or start a new piece. The creative opportunity is endless! Patrons 14 and older are welcome to drop in. Light snacks will be provided. This is a FREE Public Event Series. Crafty Weekenders will continue on the following Saturdays from 1:00 - 3:00pm: 7/9, 7/23, 8/13, and 8/27.
Maker Monday- Legos - Making Robots was a lot of fun! We used our brains and tooth brush motor or two but we made some really awesome stuff! We won't be having a Maker Monday on July 4th because the Library will be closed but join us Monday, July 11th for LEGOS. We'll be building, creating, making masterpieces and we'll even have a couple crafts to go with it. We hope you can't wait!
Adventure Club - Explore the world through stories, games and treats. Every other Thursday, join us from 3-4pm as we focus on what makes other continents special. We will be reading stories, playing games (and keeping our Summer Reading theme up!) as well as enjoying tasty treats. On Thursday, July 7th, we will be focusing on AFRICA. Registration is required so please sign up in advance at the Library,
Stress Buster Adult Coloring Night - Come one, come all, stressed adults, we hear your call! Wednesday, July 13th at 6pm drop in the Library to relax at our Stress Buster Adult Coloring Night! There will be a multitude of coloring sheets provided, as well as crayons, markers and other materials. You can also bring your own supplies. Now featuring new "Teacher Swears" coloring pages! Ages 14 +
Knit Night - On the second and third Wednesday of every month, the Friends of the Library host Knit Night for any and all interested in attending. Wednesday, July 13th and again July 20th, come down to Knit Night, from 5:30-8:00pm. It's a BALL of fun and you'll be able to make some close KNIT friends so don't let the opportunity pass.
