The Garden City Public Library has been serving the residents of Garden City (Michigan) as a resource of traditional and evolving library services for over 90 years.

The Garden City Public Library is your place for books, DVDs, CDs, audiobooks, magazines, computer access, and free Wi-Fi.  Throughout the year, we offer a variety of free programs for all ages.  The Garden City Public Library provides access to e-books via OverDrive and e-magazines via Zinio.  Using your Garden City Public Library card, you will have access to these services from anywhere at any time!

dress-up-trunk-500x500 Costume Swap - Garden City Public Library is partnering with Macaroni Kid Garden City/Dearborn to host its first ever Costume Swap. Participants will begin dropping off costume at the Garden City Public Library on Monday, October 3rd. When you drop off a costume, Library staff will give you a ticket; this ticket will be used to get a new costume at the Harvest Market on Friday, October 14th. Unfortunately, a new costume is not guaranteed as it relies heavily on participation so if you are reading this post and you have an old costume that you could donate, please do!
Schedule for HORRORFEST at the Garden City Library HORRORFEST - EVERY SATURDAY IN OCTOBER a different ghoulish movie will be shown from 2:00 - 4:00 PM at the Garden City Library. If you answered "yes" to both questions, you rock and can stop reading. If you answered "no", to either question (specifically the latter) you may want to consider becoming a donor. October 3-9, we will be participating in the 2016 Michigan Libraries for Life and can help you with information and signing up to be a donor.
New coloring sheets each week.  These are from September 6th. Stress Buster Adult Coloring Night -  Come one, come all, stressed adults, we hear your call! Tuesday, October 4th at 6pm drop in the Library to relax at our Stress Buster Adult Coloring Night! There will be a multitude of coloring sheets provided, as well as crayons, markers and other materials. You can also bring your own supplies. New coloring pages each week! Ages 14 +

Join us from 6:00-7:30 as we celebrate the release of Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard: The Hammer of Thor. We'll have crafts, games and a trivia contest! So if you love Percy Jackson, or anything from the world of Rick Riordan, come celebrate!!! Registration is required.
Don't be afraid of purchasing a used car Buying a Used Car 101 - Buying a used car shouldn’t be a scary option, yet for many it is. Ted the Mechanic is here to help! Join the Library on Tuesday, October 11th from 6 - 7:30 PM in learning the way to properly shop for a used car.
Wednesday, July 13th & 20th Knit Night - The next scheduled Knit Night is Wednesday, October 12th & 19th. Knit Night is on the second and third Wednesday of every month from 5:30 - 8:00 pm, the Friends of the Library host Knit Night for any and all interested in attending. It's a BALL of fun and you'll be able to make some close KNIT friends so don't let the opportunity pass.
Star Trek: The Next Generation will be our next Nerd Night topic. Nerd Night: Star Trek- The Next Generation - Join local nerd, Gabe Kleinert, in discussing Star Trek: The Next Generation. Get geeked about deep space voyage, free Doritos and Mountain Dew. This event is open to patrons 14 years of age or older. Please call to register for this event (734) 793-1830.
Get in the spirit of the ghastly holiday, by coming up with your own creepy creation! Creepy Anatomical Creations - Drop in on Tuesday, October 25th between 6 and 7:30 PM to make a ghoulish decoration from our recently harvested anatomy slides and haunted medical supplies. Create a creepy craft just in time for the frightening holiday! Patrons ages 14 and older are welcome to attend this free craft event.

Our Friends of the Library Book Club meets on the 3rd Thursday of every other month, so join the conversation and community!
