The Garden City Public Library has been serving the residents of Garden City (Michigan) as a resource of traditional and evolving library services for over 90 years.

The Garden City Public Library is your place for books, DVDs, CDs, audiobooks, magazines, computer access, and free Wi-Fi.  Throughout the year, we offer a variety of free programs for all ages.  The Garden City Public Library provides access to ebooks via Download Destination (powered by OverDrive), and movies, music plus much more via Hoopla.  Using your Garden City Public Library card, you will have access to these services from anywhere at any time!

Stress Buster Adult Coloring Night - Come one, come all, stressed adults, we hear your call! Every Tuesday at 6 pm drop in the Library to relax at our Stress Buster Adult Coloring Night! There will be a multitude of coloring sheets provided, as well as crayons, markers and other materials. You can also bring your own supplies. New coloring pages each week! Ages 14 + NO COLORING ON 10/31, HALLOWEEN
R-E-C-Y-C-L-E, You can do it! - Do you Recycle at home? Did you know there is a FREE, voluntary curbside pickup and 65 gallon rolling bin waiting for you to begin? Just contact DPS at (734) 793-1800 to get your bin and begin recycling! Unsure of what can be recycled? A list of complete items that can be recycled can be found HERE. Spread the word to neighbors and friends within the community who may not know about this service, and remember, ReDUCE, ReUSE, and ReCYCLE! Something to note: According to the EPA, around 75% of trash is recyclable, yet less than 30% of it actually is.
Maker Monday - You read that right: Maker Mondays are coming BACK. Garden City Public Library knows how much fun these programs were during the summer so we wanted to bring back a favorite part of the summer during the school year! Join us on Monday, September 25th from 4:00-5:00pm for an afternoon where we experiment with different kinds of SLIME. Maybe even the kind of slime you can eat...
Rock Painting - Join us on Monday, September 25th at 6:00 pm in the rock painting craze with this painting program led by our very own crafty Laura! Ages 14+ welcome to this free program. No reservation required.
Teen Craft Night - Garden City Public Library has a totally awesome new teen program: Teen Craft Night! Join us on Thursday, September 28th from 6:00-7:30pm. Join us and take the opportunity to: create the cutest mason jar craft in existence; try your hand at some cool crayon crafts; and personalize your locker just in time for the school year to start! We'll have pizza and fun crafts. This program is for Ages 11+. Please register in advance!
Pet Care with Lucky Dog - Do you have a pet? Do you love pets? Do you want to know ALL YOU CAN KNOW about pets? Well, Garden City Public Library has you covered. On Tuesday, October 3rd, join us from 6:00-7:00pm for a super fun night hosted by Stacy from Garden City's own Lucky Dog! Meet a variety of pets and learn more about taking care of animals!! Please register in advance.
Lego Club - Join the Garden City Public Library Lego Club in our brand new time! Kids ages 5 and up can join us at the library on Monday October 9th from 3:30 pm to 5:15 pm to make their own Lego masterpieces. Legos will be provided. We will also have Lego books for you to look at (or checkout) to spark your imagination. No registration is necessary. Just drop on in.
Mr. Lemoncello’s Library Escape Room and Scavenger Hunt - Mr. Lemoncello has the second coolest library in the world, behind the Garden City Public Library! Join us to celebrate the new book in this hit series by Chris Grabenstein. On Thursday, October 12th, from 6:00-7:30pm. GCPL will be hosting a fun Library themed escape room and scavenger hunt!! The clues will be all about the Library so you don't have to have read the books to come (but it's even cooler if you do!). To register in advance, please stop at the Library or call us at (734) 793-1830.
Hands-on Dungeons & Dragons - For those interested in an interactive introduction of the popular roll playing game, Dungeons & Dragons, stop into the Library on Oct. 16, and Nov. 13, at 6:00 PM. Our local DM (Dungeon Master) will run a short session for beginners, answering any questions along the way. No experience is necessary to attend this free adult event. Ages 14 +.
Friends of the Library Book Club- October - Grab your copy of The Children of Húrin by J.R.R. Tolkien at the Circulation Desk and join the book discussion! The Friends of the Library Book Club meets on the 3rd Thursday of every month, so join the conversation and community! The meeting for The Children of Húrin by J.R.R. Tolkien will be Thursday, October 19th at 3:00pm at GC Café, 5662 Middlebelt Road.
