The Garden City Public Library is your place for books, DVDs, CDs, audiobooks, magazines, computer access, and free Wi-Fi. Throughout the year, we offer a variety of free programs for all ages. The Garden City Public Library provides access to e-books via OverDrive and e-magazines via Zinio. Using your Garden City Public Library card, you will have access to these services from anywhere at any time!

Family Game Night - The Garden City Public Library wants to help families settle the age old question: who is the ultimate champion. On Thursday, February 18 from 5-7pm, the Library will be hosting a Family Game Night. Come enjoy board games, card games, Wii games, and face off against your family members! Free pizza will be served. We ask that people call to register for spots at (734) 793-1830. We hope to see you there! Bring your family and find out who is the best of the best.
Super Smash Brothers Tournament - On Tuesday, February 16th at 1:00pm, the Garden City Public Library is hosting a Super Smash Brothers Tournament. Are you a fan of video games? Have you ever wanted to know who would win in a fight between Yoshi and Kirby? Then we have the event for you! Competitors ages 11 and up will step up to see who can be crowned King or Queen of the Super Smash Brothers. Winner receives a gift certificate. Nerd Night - Nerd Night is rolling out the knowledge here at the Garden City Public Library, continuing our gaming adventures on February 8th, at 6pm with Gabe Kleinert as our guide through the gameplay of Dragon Dice. If you are into collectible strategy games, stop in and learn about the games intriguing history and of course, the various ways to win! Valentine Decorating - The Garden City Public Library is excited to announce Valentine Decorating! On Thursday, February 11th, from 6-7pm, the library will be featuring Valentine's Day card decorating and tasty treats to keep the energy up. Who doesn't want an adorable, hand made card designed to show someone just how much you care? The Library asks that you call to register in advance so we know how many people are coming and how many supplies, which will be provided, will be needed. Please call at (734) 793-1830. Drop In Art-Film-O-Rama - How pumped are you for the Art Film-O-Rama? The Garden City Public Library is pleased to announce its showing for Saturday, February 6th, 2:00-4:30: Dreams. A magical realism film that was based on actual dreams film maker Akira Kurosawa claimed to have repeatedly. This episodic tale is the first script Kurosawa ever solely wrote so it's sure to be an interesting adventure. We hope to see you there!
Pajama Storytime - Due to the wonderful success of our previous events, Garden City Public Library is hosting another Pajama Storytime! Have you ever wanted to cuddle up in your PJs with your favorite stuffed animal and read a book? Then have we got the event for you! As long as you're ten and under, of course. On February 4th at 6:30pm, The Garden City Library will be hosting a pajama story time for all the lucky guests. Patrons will be encouraged to wear pajamas and bring stuffed animal buddies along for the ride. There will be a story and a short film.
Teen Book-to-Movie Club - You know how just about every popular book series in the last few years have been made into movies? Don't you just want someone to talk to about it? Well the Garden City Public Library has the best night planned for you. On Thursday, January 28th, from 5:30-7:30 pm, the Library will be hosting a Teen Book-to-Movie Club. Come meet other book loving enthusiasts as you watch The Scorch Trials, based off the book of the same name by James Dashner. Monthly Bad Horror Movie Meet-Up - "Then they're going to eat me..." Share your love of the poorly expressed macabre with a monthly screening of the best of the worst. On Wednesday, January 27th the Garden City Public Library will be showing Troll 2 starting at 6pm. The movie follows a family being pursued by vegetarian goblins who want to transform the family into plants so they can eat them. You're probably thinking: what do goblins have to do with trolls? The answer is absolutely nothing! That's part of the appeal of this truly so-bad-it's-good horror movie. We hope to see you there! The film is rated PG-13
